My boyfriend recently became an uncle. This has meant lots of time spent scouring the internet for the best baby gifts. Due to the tricky way the web works nowadays, I’ve been showered with ads about the best brands and tips for decorating nurseries – hence the inspiration behind this post!
I’m not one for cutesy pinks or sherbet pastels. In my opinion, they are so over done. I love the unisex trend, which focuses on creating a room bursting with personality without any prerequisites. You can experiment with pattern, texture and quirky accessories to create a room that is playful and easy to update as they grow.
A touch of inspiration…
The safari trend is one of my favourites for nurseries and children’s bedrooms. Think patterned wallpaper, sandy tones, natural textures, plants and anything animal themed! For many of us, the love of four-legged friends never goes away so they’re unlikely to tire of this decor.
The other theme, or rather motif, I am obsessed with, is the hot air balloon. This trend has been gaining traction for some time now, with both designers and the highstreet offering a wide range of wallpapers, mobiles, textiles and toys. The hot air balloon has whimsical connotations of exploration and adventure from times gone by. What better way to inspire little ones to dream big?

With a bit of thought and creativity, you can ensure that your childrens’ imagination buds and blossoms as quickly as they do.
